What does a cooking class cost in Switzerland?

We compared 403 cooking and baking workshops from 26 Swiss providers. A typical evening class in Zurich costs around CHF 175, and dinner is part of the price.

The short answer

A single cooking class in Zurich costs around CHF 175 per person for about four hours. Half of all Zurich classes sit between CHF 155 and CHF 185. The price almost always includes ingredients, the full meal you cook, and recipes to take home. Drinks are sometimes extra.

These figures are medians of the prices providers list on Atelo, counted once per workshop series, for 126 single-evening classes from 13 Zurich providers, as of October 2026.

Why a cooking class costs what it costs

Compare a cooking class with a restaurant evening, not with a course. You buy four hours with a chef, a professional kitchen, and a three or four course dinner for which you did the work. A comparable restaurant dinner in Zurich with wine quickly reaches CHF 100 or more.

Ingredients are the biggest variable. Pasta, dumplings, and curry evenings tend to be cheaper. Fish, sushi, and meat-focused classes sit at the top of the range.

Prices by city

Zurich: around CHF 175, most between CHF 155 and CHF 185, usually about four hours. Zurich has by far the largest choice, with 175 cooking and baking workshops listed on Atelo.

Winterthur: around CHF 165, most between CHF 165 and CHF 185. Most listed classes here come from one large provider, so prices are very uniform.

Basel: around CHF 95, with shorter formats of about three hours. Fewer classes are listed, so treat this as a first indication.

Baking and chocolate workshops are usually shorter and cheaper than full cooking evenings, typically around CHF 100 to 140.

How to get more for your money

Read what is included before comparing prices. A CHF 150 class without drinks and a CHF 185 class with wine pairing can end up costing the same evening.

Weeknights are often easier to book and sometimes cheaper than Fridays and Saturdays. For two people, check whether the provider sells couple or duo tickets. For groups of eight or more, ask for a private offer: it is often similar per head and the menu is yours.
