What to expect in a floristry workshop
Binding, wiring, arranging: a floristry workshop is hands-on craft, and you take the result home the same day. No green thumb required.

How a typical workshop runs
Most floristry workshops last two to three hours. First the instructor demonstrates the technique on their own piece, say binding a bouquet or wiring a wreath. Then you work on your own piece, with help whenever you need it.
The material is laid out when you arrive: flowers or branches, wire, snips, a work surface. You choose from the prepared selection, and exactly that choice makes every piece different. Two people at the same table go home with two completely different results.
The season decides the material
Floristry follows the year. Spring workshops centre on fresh cut flowers, summer brings meadow flowers and herbs, autumn leans on dried flowers and berries, and advent means fir greens, candles and wreaths.
So pick the workshop theme to match the season rather than the other way round. An advent wreath workshop in November has a completely different mood than a spring bouquet in March, and both are a good first workshop.
You do not need a green thumb
A common misunderstanding: floristry has little to do with gardening. You do not have to keep anything alive, you work with cut material. What you learn is craft: proportions, binding technique, how to guide the wire.
That is exactly why these workshops are so beginner-friendly. The technique is understood within the first hour, the rest is practice and taste. If you have ever wrapped a present, you have enough dexterity.
The result goes home with you the same day
Unlike pottery, there is no waiting: bouquet, wreath or arrangement goes straight home with you. That immediate result is what makes floristry workshops popular as a shared occasion too, with friends, as a team event or as a gift for two.
Spring and advent are the favourite seasons, and advent wreath dates in particular tend to fill up early. On Atelo you can compare floristry and plant workshops in your region and book in time.
